It's time I start blogging about my running and my training for my 1/2 marathon that is coming up this November.
I have never been a runner until Aidan turned 8 months....I really wanted a jogging stroller and we got one from Allan's papaw and I started using it and then ran a 10k before we moved from Austin. One of my goals was to run a 1/2 marathon before I turned 30....I turn 30 in January and what a better way to achieve my goal...so I have registered for the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Antonio on November 16th and have been on a 1/2 marathon training program for the past 4 weeks. I have a running partner, Ashley, and we have been doing great on our training! I am so proud of both of us. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 6:30 and run for a straight 40 minutes (it actually bumbs up to 42 minutes this week). On Monday and Wednesday we are supposed to do "cross training", so I head to the gym and do cycle and weights on Monday mornings and then do Pilates with my friend Jen on Wednesdays. I really enjoy my pilates class! Friday is a "rest day" and then Saturday is our long distance run....this past Saturday Allan and I ran 6 miles!! So far that has been our longest run on our 1/2 marathon training. Saturdays is when our mileage keeps increasing...Ashley and I run with Allan and her husband Chris, so that keeps us motivated. Wish us all luck because we are all running the 1/2 marathon. Sunday is a "rest day" too. But Allan and I didn't follow our training program today...we were in Austin and got up early to go play tennis with my parents....it was so much fun!
I really enjoy running and so excited that I have this new passion in my life. I'm also playing tennis when I get the chance and still LOVE that sport. And now that it is starting to cool off, would love to start riding my bike some more. We have been taking Aidan on little bike rides here and there around our neihborhood....he rides his bike and Allan and I ride our bike's. It's a lot of fun and Aidan really enjoys it!
So wish me luck on my journey to my first 1/2 Marathon. :)
